Foreign Forms 101: What Every Tax Practitioner Must Know to Stay Compliant
Time: 3pm – 5pm ET
Date: Thursday, February 5, 2026
International reporting is no longer a niche issue—it’s a routine risk area for today’s tax practitioner. With the IRS continuing to increase enforcement around foreign assets, accounts, and income, even “ordinary” clients can trigger serious reporting obligations and penalties if key international forms are missed or misunderstood.
In this two-hour practical training, our panel of international Tax Experts will break down the most common—and most dangerous—foreign reporting forms every tax professional should recognize. You’ll learn when these forms apply, what triggers filing requirements, how they intersect with one another, and where practitioners most often get it wrong. We will also discuss when and how to seek penalty abatement and how to craft your reasonable cause argument.
This program is designed to help you spot red flags quickly, ask the right client questions, and avoid costly compliance failures—whether you prepare the forms yourself or need to know when to bring in specialized help.
What you’ll learn:
- The core international tax forms every practitioner must recognize
- Common client fact patterns that trigger foreign reporting obligations
- How these forms interact with individual and business returns
- Frequent mistakes that lead to penalties, audits, and practitioner exposure
- Practical tips for intake, documentation, and risk management
Whether you regularly work with international clients or just want to avoid being blindsided by foreign reporting issues, this session will give you the clarity and confidence you need to protect both your clients—and your practice.
