Do you charge for consultations, and if so what do you provide to justify that consult fee?
Yes, at Green & Sklarz LLC (our law firm) we charge for consultations. In order to know if the taxpayer is an Offer-in-Compromise candidate we need to get their financial information and do the Reasonable Collection Potential Analysis. For that analysis we charge $1,500. What we explain to the client is that at the end of the analysis we will be able to advise them on whether they are an Offer candidate or not. If we determine they are an Offer candidate, we charge $5,000 for preparing an Offer-in-Compromise, less the $1,500 they have already paid. Virtually every potential client agrees and signs up as a client.
