How long does the IRS have to respond to an offer in compromise?

The IRS has 24 months to act on a filed Offer-in-Compromise. If the IRS fails to act on the Offer (meaning accept or reject), then the Offer would be deemed automatically accepted after two-years. To be clear, this is at the COIC level,we have had plenty of offers extend well beyond the 24 months due to the offer being negotiated with an appeals officer.
