I am a newly enrolled agent (EA) and would like to go into practice on my own. Is an EA designation enough? Or do I need to get another license and become a CPA?

You can absolutely do Offers-in-Compromise with solely an EA designation. In order to represent taxpayers before the IRS you must have either an EA, a CPA, or be a licensed attorney. So, with your EA you are fine, and do not need to pursue a CPA designation unless you want to for some other reason.
