What happens after a criminal tax conviction?

In criminal tax cases the court usually imposes an order of Restitution for the taxpayer to repay the government for its loss. This is an effective court order. The IRS is authored under the FETI Act to use the Order of Restitution as the basis for a civil tax assessment. The IRS will add on the 75% civil fraud penalty plus interest and now it can begin pursuing collection and enforcement against the taxpayer.
