This 2-hour Continuing Professional Education (CPE) webinar provides a comprehensive update on current tax ethics standards and emerging issues affecting CPAs and tax practitioners. Participants will review key governing authorities, including Treasury Circular 230 and the AICPA Statements on Standards for Tax Services (SSTS), with a focus on recent revisions and proposed updates impacting professional responsibilities.

The program explores practical applications of ethical standards through real-world scenarios involving errors and omissions, contingent fees, conflicts of interest, advertising, and client communications. Attendees will also examine recent court cases shaping the scope of IRS authority and practitioner obligations.

Special emphasis is placed on evolving risks related to technology, including the ethical use of AI tools, data protection requirements, and the need for technological competence in modern tax practice. By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to apply ethical judgment, maintain compliance, and uphold professional integrity in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
