Do federal tax liens always take priority over other liens?

No. A federal tax lien does not automatically take precedence over other liens. Priority depends on the \”first in time, first in right\” rule, whichever lien is recorded or perfected first generally has priority. Exceptions apply, especially when the competing lien is choate or enjoys super-priority status.
