What is an IDR and why is it important?

An Information Document Request (IDR) is the IRS\’s written list of items they want to review in the audit. While you must prepare those items, the audit can easily expand beyond them. If possible the tax professional should try and review the entire return and all the documentation so that they are familiar with the entire return and can identify any areas that cause concern.
