How can a taxpayer avoid a levy?

To avoid a levy, the taxpayer must:
– Open and respond to all IRS correspondence,
– File any unfiled returns,
– Become tax compliant, and
– Request a resolution such as a payment plan, currently not collectible (CNC) status, or Offer in Compromise.
Being proactive is key to avoiding enforced collection.
