My client pays for after-school care for their two children. Is this allowed?

It is considered a necessary expense (dependent care) if it is required so that the parent or parents can work. However, if there is one spouse that does not work and could otherwise get the children/care for them after school, then the expense would not be allowed as a deduction because it would not be considered necessary and allowed.
