What is a Certificate of Non-Attachment?

A Certificate of Non-Attachment is issued by the IRS to clarify that a person\’s property is not subject to a federal tax lien, even if their name appears on the NFTL. This is used in situations where a lien was mistakenly associated with someone who doesn\’t owe the tax debt or doesn\’t actually own the property in question.
